SUEP always adhere to the Talent Strong School Strategy by standing on the rational use of talents, and building a professional teaching team. The university faculty includes 1,155 staff, (among which 792 are full-time teachers. 85% of the staff are with Master Degree, and the number of doctorate is 45%. The proportion of full-time teachers with senior professional technical position is more than 53%.

Under the implementation of “Talent Developing Strategy”, the university has launched “1+4 Talent Recruiting and Cultivation Plan” and “Wisdom Project” to optimize the faculty structure. Now, we have faculty members who have been listed in “National Outstanding Youth”(1 member), “Millions of National Engineering Talents” (1 member), “The New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education” (2 members), “Shanghai Municipal Leading Talents” (2 members), “Oriental Scholars” (6 members) and other projects(almost 70 members). Compared with parallel institutes of higher learning, SUEP is among the top concerning the number of selected talents into various talent projects. We also have faculty members awarded the honor of “National Outstanding Teacher” (2 members), “National Model Worker” (1 member) and 21 teachers in our university can have the Special Allowance of the State Council. Some have been awarded the honor of “Shanghai Municipal Modal Worker”(1 member), “Baosteel Excellent Teacher”(9 members) and “Shanghai Municipal Teaching Achievement”(16 members). In addition, the university has invited scores of well-known scholars and experts with domestic and international fame as the honorary visitors or part-time professors.
