Weng Peifen made a conclusive remark that since the comprehensive educational reform was launched in Shanghai five years ago, our university has taken reform and innovation as the driving force to engage difficulties, made bold to practice with active exploration while deepening the administrative reform of the affiliated colleges, and achieved remarkable progress with the joint efforts of the whole faculty and all the students. These seminars intended to help us all to broaden our horizon and draw other's strengths to offset our weakness by referring to the new concepts of other colleges and universities and comparing their developmental disadvantages. He stressed that it is necessary to achieve common understanding and reach agreement through starting a full discussion on deepening the university-based and college-based administrative reform and launching an innovation in operating mechanism.
The dominant position of the affiliated colleges must be consolidated in performance assessment, augmenting of the teaching staffs, talent training, scientific research of various disciplines, international exchanges, and resource allocation so that their vitality will be displayed and the zeal, initiative and creativity be shown in a majority of faculty and students. By introducing an innovative system and improving the existing mechanism, we will try to create a benign atmosphere of solidarity for reform and seek common development. We will continue to propel the administrative reform so as to seek a sustainable development in building up a high-level local university in the industry of electric power.
