The Second “The Belt and Road” International Business Decision for Energy and Electric Power Successfully Held

On November 6, 2020, at 2 pm CST, the closing ceremony of the second The Belt and Road Initiative International Energy and Power Business Decision Simulation Competition was held at the Yangpu campus of Shanghai Electric Power University.The closing ceremony took the form of online + offline in parallel. Nearly 200 people, including leaders of relevant domestic and international universities, participating teams, co-organizers, volunteers, media, and audiences, participated in the closing ceremony. Xu Kai (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shanghai University of Electric Power), Zeng Fenyu (Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation), Zhang Yi (Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management), Pan Hua (Executive Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management), Wang Zhiping (Executive Vice Dean of the School of International Exchange), Wei Shurong (Deputy Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering), visited the site offline.Online guests include Tirso Ronquillo (President of Batangas State University in the Philippines), Sri Mulyani Ak. (President of Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang in Indonesia), Veijo Kyösti (CEO of CESIM OY), Jia Xuedong(Board Chairman of Shandong Lineng Electric Technology Co., Ltd.), Hoang Thi Kim Oanh (Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Electric Power University in Vietnam), Sisil Kumarawadu (Head of Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka), Wu Wen (General Manager of CESIM OY China), etc. The closing ceremony was hosted by Zeng Fenyu.

  

  

This competition focuses on the The Belt and Road Initiative Electric Power University Alliance and The Belt and Road Initiative Electric Power Industry-University-Research Alliance initiated and established by the university in October 2018. Universities and enterprises at home and abroad jointly participate in the field of energy and power and explore a new international industry-university-research cooperation model. The planning stage of the competition lasted for six months. Two hundred contestants from ten universities and colleges from six countries and three domestic and international companies participated in the contest. The competition phase lasted for one month. Contestants gathered online to enrich professional knowledge and cultivate innovative thinking through the forms of cloud connection, cloud operation, and cloud presentation.

  

In the closing speech, Xu Kai first expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the domestic and foreign companies and universities that participated in the competition and mentioned that the contestants developed their teamwork and innovative thinking skills through this contest, and they have continuously improved themselves in the activity. After that, participants achieve the goal of excellence. In the end,  he emphasized that through the carrier of the competition, more students will pay attention to the development of energy and power industry and business decision-making innovation, and participate in innovation projects in related fields, to achieve the purpose of enhancing innovation ability and stimulating entrepreneurial enthusiasm.

  

Pan Hua reported on the overall situation of the game. He mentioned that every participating team in this competition demonstrated a greatly high quality of participation and full preparation for the competition. From the preliminary to the final, the contestants overcame all the difficulties and showed the best state. He hopes that it is no matter in this competition or every subsequent competition, every team can break through themselves and create new achievements

  

Xu Kai (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Shanghai   University of Electric Power), Wang Zhiping (Executive Vice Dean of the School of International Exchange), and Wei Shurong (Deputy Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering) presented awards to the champion, the first-prize winning teams, and second-prize winning teams respectively.

  

.Tirso Ronquillo who is the president of Batangas State University in the Philippines and the organizer of the third competition in 2021, pointed out in his speech that academic research is borderless. He hopes that every contestant can gain and share rich knowledge and experience in the competition and establish a deep friendship with international friends. He also expressed that he will actively work hard to organize the third competition in the Philippines in 2021, hoping to see college students from more countries participate in the competition and show their own level and style.

  

Sri Mulyani Ak. CA (President of Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang in Indonesia) delivered a speech of thanks. She sincerely thanked Shanghai University of Electric Power for the invitation, students from various universities and the organizers for their hard work, support and contribution to this competition, and said that this competition is a great success of international cooperation, allowing more people to see the internationalization, exchange and cooperation, and to carry forward the spirit of energy and power innovation. She expressed that Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang will continue to participate in future competitions and gave good wishes to the next one.

  

Hoang Thi Kim Oanh (Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Electric Power University in Vietnam) said in his speech that competition has always been a good way to learn and share experiences. In this competition, students have improved their knowledge and skills in energy and power business decision-making.

  

Shandong Lineng Electric Technology Co., Ltd. is a participant in this competition and sponsored the contest.  Jia Xuedong, the chairman of the company, pointed out in his speech that open innova
tion is a corporate development model widely used by large international enterprises. Through business innovation, you can strengthen the power of innovation and entrepreneurship teams in colleges and universities. I hope that students can continue to work hard to become talents needed in the future energy and power industry market.

Teachers and student representatives from other universities, and Veijo Kyösti (CEO of CESIM OY), all affirmed the smooth development of this competition. They rewarded each contestant for their positive enthusiasm and gave good wishes for the next competition.


In order to highlight the international friendly exchanges and cultural diversity of the competition, the closing ceremony invited students from various colleges and universities to perform cultural shows which demonstrated Chinese martial arts,  exotic singing and dancing, Chinese traditional dance music including national characteristics, etc. Each program undoubtedly added the finishing touch to this closing ceremony.

  

The Belt and Road Initiative International Energy and Power Business Decision Simulation Competition is one of the important activities of The Belt and Road Initiative Electric Power University Alliance and The Belt and Road Initiative Electric Power Industry-University-Research Alliance in our school. The smooth progress of the competition has further consolidated the foundation of cooperation for the two international university alliances proposed by our school. In order to make the alliance cooperation continuous and the competition sustainable, the third The Belt and Road Initiative International Energy and Power Business Decision Simulation Competition in 2021 will be held at the Batangas State University in the Philippines.
