The College of Mathematics and Physics includes Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics, and Institute of Solar Energy. Department of Mathematics have advanced mathematics, engineering mathematics and information and computer science teaching and research offices. Department of Physics has university physics teaching and research office, applied physics teaching and research office and physics experiment center and two laboratories co-operated by central and local. The college has more than 500 undergraduates.

The College faculty consists of 89 full-time teachers; among them there are 8 professors, 37 associate professors, and 56 of them have doctor’s degree. Some of the faculty members have been awarded by Shanghai Education Commission and Shanghai municipal, and granted S&T sponsorship by various Shanghai talent and youth science projects.

Information and Computing Science, Applied Physics are the 2 principal disciplines in the college as Level-1 master discipline of physics and Level-2 master discipline of Renewable energy science and engineering.

The college has undertaken over 20 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, over 60 projects from Ministry of Education, Shanghai municipal, Shanghai Education Commission key research projects, and Natural Science Fund of Shanghai. The college also accomplished one Shanghai Undergraduate Highland Project, and published several papers (including 3 ESI highly cited papers) on top-class international magazines including Nature Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Advanced Energy Materials, Acta Materialia, and Applied Physics Letters. Advanced Mathematics is awarded as Shanghai Excellent Course; and students have won first and second prizes in National University Students’ Competition of Mathematic Modeling, Mathematics and Physics.
