SUEP Makes Important Achievements in Field of Phase Change Heat Storage Technology

Recently, the College of Energy and Mechanical Engineering of SUEP has made important progress in the field of phase change heat storage. Under the joint guidance of Professor Pan Weiguo and Teacher Yan Ting, the postgraduate student, Wu Shaofei, published three high-level papers on phase change heat storage technology, including a review paper of “Thermal Conductivity Enhancement on Phase Change Materials for Thermal Energy Storage” in Energy Storage Materials (immediate impact factor: 15.09), a leading international SCI journal in the field of materials, and a research paper of “Preparation and Thermal Property Analysis of a Novel Phase Change Heat Storage Material” in Renewable Energy (impact factor: 5.439), a leading international journal in the field of energy, and a research paper of “Preparation and Heat Storage Performance of Expanded Graphite/Palmitic Acid Shape-Stabilized Composite Phase Change Material with High Thermal Conductivity” in Journal of Chemical Industry and Engineering (EI included), a core academic journal of China, as the cover paper. Professor Pan Weiguo and Teacher Yan Ting are the corresponding authors of these three papers. 

Phase change heat storage technology is considered to be an important means to effectively solve the mismatch between heat supply and demand in time and space; and the development of high-performance phase change materials is the core of the large-scale application of phase change heat storage technology. It has been widely studied to improve the thermal conductivity of phase change materials in order to obtain higher heat charge and release rates. Therefore, it has great development potential to reveal the thermal conductivity mechanism of phase change materials and develop composite phase change heat storage materials with high thermal conductivity from the perspective of microscopic mechanism and material morphology characteristics.

It is also supported by Shanghai Power Environmental Protection Engineering Technology Research Center and the Key Laboratory of Clean and Efficient Power Environmental Protection Technology of Machinery Industry.
