Shanghai University of Electric Power

We have established close relationship in international exchange and cooperation with universities in UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Russia, America, Canada, Japan, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, etc. Each year language and scientific foreign experts are invited to teach or to do research work in SUEP for both short and long term programs. Some foreign experts are engaged as our honorary professors. Students from11 countries are enrolled into the university to study Chinese language, bachelor and master degree, or for exchange programs, like Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Vietnam, Australia, Morocco, South Africa, Laos and so on. The joint educational programs cooperated with Germany, U.K. and Australian universities have been educating students into specialists with both Chinese and international qualifications for the development of the power industry.

In 2013, International Academic Forum for the Development of Electric Power Technologies (ADEPT) was initiated by SUEP. The 1st ADEPT Conference was held in Shanghai, with 8 electric power universities from China, UK, Germany, Australia, Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Brazil participating. In 2015, two universities from South Korea and Mongolia made the number up to 10 universities. ADEPT serves as a platform to promote faculty and student exchange, collaboration in scientific research and joint laboratory, etc. In 2015, the 2nd ADEPT Conference was held in Glasgow, UK, meanwhile ADEPT Summer Workshop “Green Energy” was organized in Shanghai. The 3rd ADEPT Conference was held in Perth, Australia. In 2018, the first ADEPT Council Meeting and 2nd ADEPT Summer School will be held in Shanghai.

Approved by the Ministry of Education, SUEP has cooperated with University of Strathclyde in joint education majoring in Electrical Engineering and its Automation. The university has invited international scientific experts and language experts from Curtin Energy Engineering Institute to give lectures and cooperate in scientific researches every year. 

SUEP also invite international scholars such as the academician of the Royal Academy of Science to be honorary professors and part-time professors and high-level and influential academic leaders to be Overseas Scholars so as to improve our teaching and research capability. Now, 27 Overseas Scholars from Britain, the United States, Japan etc. have signed agreements with SUEP.
