SUEP Students Successfully Donated Hematopoietic Stem Cells for the First Time

On the morning of September 17, the ceremony of consoling and honoring SUEP student Liu Hui for his donation of hematopoietic stem cells was held in Shanghai General Hospital (North Campus). Leaders from Red Cross Society of China (Shanghai Branch), Shanghai Youth League Committee, SUEP Youth League Committee and Economics and Management College of SUEP attended the event. After the ceremony, Liu Hui successfully donated his hematopoietic stem cells to a patient from Hong Kong with hematologic diseases. He is the 410th donor of hematopoietic stem cells in Shanghai Red Cross Society, the third to Hong Kong in Shanghai, and the first in SUEP.

Liu Hui was admitted to the College of Economics and Management of SUEP in 2015. In daily life, he actively participates in both voluntary blood donation activities and other school activities. From knowing a successful match with the compatriot from Hong Kong, to signing the informed consent form accompanied by his mother, Liu Hui never forgets his original heart to help others. At the same time, he actively cooperated with the Shanghai Branch for testing, under the support of his family members. In the end, he ruled out all kinds of difficulties, successfully donating his hematopoietic stem cells to the patient, fulfilling his promise made at the age of 18.

Liu Hui’s behavior demonstrates the sense of responsibility, the spirit of humanity and selfless dedication of SUEP students. As an advanced model of our students, Li Hui was awarded the title of “Excellent Student” by Youth League Committee of our school, which widely publicizes the spirit of humanity, charity and dedication, and is helpful to cultivate students' sense of social responsibility in the new era.
