College of Electronics and Information Engineering is an important base for talent-fostering and scientific research in fields of electronics, communication and information, with departments of Communication, Information Engineering, Electronics and Research Center. The college now has 4 undergraduate majors, namely Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electronics Science and Technology, Photoelectric Information Engineering, and 1 second-level discipline master program, Electrical Engineering Theory and New Technology. Meanwhile the college has been honored for its discipline development, one Key Discipline of Shanghai Municipal level and one of Shanghai Education Commission level. The college possesses 5 laboratories jointly built by central and local government.
Faculty members in the college include over 30 professors and associate professors, and teachers of doctor’s degree amount to almost 30. Some of the faculty has been listed in talent schemes like Shanghai Municipal Pujiang Plan, Morning Star Youth of S&T, and Dawn Light Plan.
With strong ability in scientific research, the College of Electronics and Information Engineering has undertook projects from Natural Science Fund of China(NSFC), Science and Technology Research of Education Ministry, Study, Research and Production Integration of Shanghai Science Commission, Innovation Action Program of Shanghai, and S&T projects commissioned by some power enterprises. Papers published by significant academic journals and conferences at home and abroad reach about 200 each year, among which almost 100 are cited by SCI, EI and ISTP. In recent 3 years the college has been honored 4 awards of both city and ministry level for its scientific improvement, and achieved several patents of National Invention and Utility Model.
The College of Electronic and Information Engineering directly aims at the emerging IT industry. By insisting on the teaching method of study, research and production integration closely related to power industry, catching up with the smart grid development trend, and meeting power industry’s need in information technology, our college is striving to build a high-level College of Electronic and Information Engineering with electric characteristics, and train advanced talents specializing in information technology and application. In recently years the overall quality of graduates from our college keeps improving, which promises them a better job career. Presently during the 085 project, the college will work to serve district economic development and informatization in power industry, leading our way vigorously to an innovative college with teaching and research characteristics.
