SUEP Sets up First Artificial Intelligence College Among National Electric Power Universities

        On April 23, SUEP signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Lingang Group, jointly establishing SUEP-Lingang Artificial Intelligence College, which is the first new college among the national electric power universities to carry out education and scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence comprehensively.

        Yuan Guohua, president of Lingang Group, Wang Chunhua, the member of the Party committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Group, Li Mingfu, secretary of the Party committee of SUEP, Li Hexing, president of SUEP, Xu Kai, the deputy secretary of Party committee and the vice president of SUEP, Huang Dongmei, the vice president of SUEP, and representatives of teachers, students and enterprises attended the signing ceremony. After the ceremony, Li Hexing and Yuan Guohua were interviewed by the media.

        Through the co-construction of Artificial Intelligence College, SUEP and Lingang Group will carry out a deeper cooperation in college management, major construction, teacher training, school-enterprise cooperation and students’ employment. Based on their own advantages, the two sides jointly set up a School-Enterprise Joint Management Committee, aiming to comprehensively solve the problems faced by the electric power industry, enterprises and core technologies, innovate the talent training system of “artificial intelligence + X”, and to jointly create a new model of cultivating high-level application-oriented talents especially in information technology, smart equipment, and advanced energy industries. In September, 30 outstanding sophomores with strong interest in artificial intelligence from the College of Electronics and Information Engineering, and the College of Computer Science and Technology will be admitted to the College of Artificial Intelligence by two-way selection, becoming the first batch of students of the college. At the same time, some new graduate students will be selected to work on the research of artificial intelligence. In terms of social services, the College of Artificial Intelligence will highlight collaborative innovation in production, learning and researching, and forge a mutually beneficial and win-win relationship with the industries through various forms, so as to promote the development of artificial intelligence research in the field of electric power.
